Jeep Wrangler JK Winches & Recovery - Wireless & Waterproof Winch Mounts & Accessories For Sale - Morris 4x4

The Jeep Wrangler JK is capable of taking you just about anywhere you want to go, from high mountain roads, to the sandy desert, rock gardens, or a quick trip to the beach. If you find yourself doing a lot of miles in the remote backcountry or crawling through rocks on rough terrain, do yourself a favor and invest in Jeep recovery parts. If you are prepared with a winch, straps and gloves, extra water cans and fuel cans, recovery boards and an extra light or two, you can be confident that wherever you go, you will be able to drive back out again. A lot of times, your recovery gear lets you play the hero and get other, less prepared off-road enthusiasts out of sticky situations.

So what exactly do you need when it comes to recovery gear? The more prepared, the better. It’s surprising how many different scenarios you can find yourself in on back roads. Extra fuel and recovery boards are a must, but again, most recovery gear is on the market because someone has found a need for it. You might be wondering, are Jeep winches necessary? Depending on what kind of terrain you found yourself in, a winch can be a lifesaver. But what is the best Jeep winch? Since a winch is such a big investment, we strive to only offer the highest quality winches on our site. If you choose one from Morris, you are purchasing from trusted manufacturers who don’t skimp on important features like weather-proofing, brake design, or override and safety systems.

The first thing to consider when purchasing a winch is the pull rating, or capacity. Generally, take into account the weight of your Wrangler AND all the gear you plan on having, and multiply that by 1.5. That gives you a good base - the minimum pull rating you need to purchase. Remember, it is just the minimum. You also need to think about terrain; if you are driving through mud or very steep terrain, you will need a higher pull rating. For instance, if you calculate that you need a winch with a 6000 lb capacity, if you are constantly in muddy or steep terrain and always finding yourself in tight spots, a 9000 or 10000lb winch might suit your needs better. We offer winches with a pull rating anywhere from a 2000lb winch all the way up to an 18000lb winch.

Next, you will need to consider whether you are looking for synthetic rope or a steel cable. Both definitely have their pros and cons. Synthetic rope is significantly lighter, and if it snaps, you can tie it together and continue the job. Steel is much heavier, but withstands rock abrasions better than synthetic. It can be very dangerous if it snaps, though, and you will want to wear gloves to protect from sharp edges. You can also choose between an electric pull system or hydraulic. The electric system is most popular with Jeep owners. However, if you end up using your winch a lot on the trail, hydraulic is the way to go, as they do not get overheated.

If you do a lot of rock crawling, mudding, or solo driving, a winch can certainly be an asset worth considering. If you do decide to get a winch, be sure to check out our other products like suspension kits, winch plates, and recovery kits. We can’t emphasize how important it is to be prepared in the backcountry, and these items will help your adventure end in success.
